1969 Porsche 356 Speedster Replica – Olathe, KS

Seller offering a 1969 Porsche 356 Speedster kit car from Classic Motor Carriages out of Miami, FL on eBay with a current bid of $2,550 (reserve not met) and buy-it-now price of $18,500.  Auction ends Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 1:09 PM.   Not quite the original but still a lot of fun.  Salvage titled as a 1969 VW, seller says this kit car has a VW 1600 motor, 4-speed transmission and is a great cruiser.    Not clear when the kit car was built but we know Classic Motor Carriages folded in 1994.   Includes nice high back bucket seats with red stitching, rear seat, like new convertible top, new brakes and solid undercarriage.  Paint looks shiny and interior looks to be in good shape.

Automobili Intermeccanica of Santa Ana, CA was the largest manufacturer of Speedster car kits in the 1970’s.   In 1979 one of the partners bought the other’s share and sold the Speedster project to Classic Motor Carriages of Miami, FL.  CMC produced a number of kit cars and was eventually sued by 900 of its customers for misleading advertising.  The allegations focused on the ease of assembling the kit car. Once built, many customers reported a satisfactory product. The $2.5 million compensation eventually led to the closure of CMC in 1994.   This 1969 Porsche 356 Speedster is for sale in Olathe, Kansas.  Check out seller’s listing on eBay for full details and contact information.

Not sure about this kit car but I like the side-by-side with the Euro Spec 911. No doubt that the styling ques are consistent throughout the Porsche life. Glad you are featuring a lot of Porsche’s – aside from eBay and the Porsche owner’s club websites (which are not local) there is not one central place for the KC area to list a Porsche. Keep up the good work. I’ve been sharing the daily email with some of by car friends and they all love it.
