The Saab 96 was produced from 1960-1980 and featured the signature aerodynamic two-door Saab design with four passenger seating. in 1967 Saab began marketing the V4 engine developed by Ford and produced in its Cologne, Germany plant. The 1.5L V4 was designed for compact vehicles and produced 73 hp for US imports. More than 547,000 Saab 96’s were built during its 20-year production but very few were destined for the US market.
