The Saab Sonnett began production in 1955 and continued until 1974. The Sonnet shared engines and other components with the Saab 96 and 95 and mainly intended for American export. The Sonnett II featured a floor-mounted shifter, hidden headlamps (which are operated manually with a lever), and a hinged rear window glass instead of the previous model’s hatch door. The vehicle was equipped with a 1700 cc Ford V4 which produced 65 hp, a top speed of 103 mph, and a 0-60 time of 13 seconds. Only 8,368 Sonett III’s were manufactured between 1970-1974.
