Seller offering a 1985 Toyota SR5 4×4 with approximately 200,000 miles for $5,500. Light and rugged, the Toyota SR5 continues to be popular because they are relatively cheap to buy, easy to find parts for, inexpensive to repair, dependable, and tough. Seller says the engine was rebuilt 3 years and 25,000 miles ago and the 5-speed manual transmission about 50,000 miles ago. Pictures show wear and rust in some of the normal spots, a bed liner, but overall condition is relatively good when looking at similar vintage trucks. Especially pre ’86 trucks that were known for rust in the bed and doors.
Although not quite the 1985 SR5 that was in Back to the Future, all SR5’s offered a solid front-wheel axle and locking hubs. Most serious 4×4 enthusiasts say the solid-axle setup can’t be eat when it comes to rockcrawling. The 1985 transmission was known to be stronger than it’s predecessor. The Xtracab began being offered in ’79 and offers a unique look and 6 additional inches of storage behind the seat. Similar to early model Broncos before the current waive of popularity and souring values took over, these are known to be heavily modified, cut, lifted, etc. for 4×4 enthusiasts.
