The XLR featured Cadillac’s 4.6L V8 Northstar engined tuned for 320 hp, a 0-60 time of 4.2 seconds, and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The rear mounted transmission helps give the XLR virtual 50/50 front-to-rear weight distribution for superior balance as well as unusually roomy footwell space for the occupants. The XLR was also one of the first vehicles to use Adaptive Forward Lighting which enabled headlamps to adjust lighting patterns in synch with vehicle steering – increasing night time visibility.
