The Ford Explorer was released in 1991 as a replacement to the Bronco II. Unlike the Bronco, it was introduced in both 2-door and 4-door versions. The first generation was built from 1991-1994 and derived its chassis, powertrain, bumper, fenders, headlights, and grille from the Ford Ranger.
The Explorer was equipped with a 4.0-liter V6 – it’s sole engine offering – a 4-speed overdrive automatic, and a rear-wheel drive powertrain. The push-button 4WD allowed the driver to switch from 2-wheel drive to “4 high” at any speed and “4 low” while stopped. This 1994 Ford Explorer XLT is for sale in Topeka, Kansas.
