Seller offering a 1959 Merceds Benz 220s with a reported 11,000 original miles on 6 digit odometer for $9,999. Produced from 1956-1959, the 220s was a part of the W-180 series. Nearly identical to the 220a, the 220s i distinguished by an upgraded engine and a one-piece bumper which replaced the 3-piece bumper of the 220a. Seller says this vehicle is complete with a good engine and transmission but needs to be restored.
Vehicle shows missing trim and quite a bit of surface rust. What the 220s lacked in sleek design it made up for with class. Long wood dash, art deco gauges, and a large steering wheel. Vehicle appears to retain some of the original hub caps.
While not the equivalent of the 220s coupe, the Sedan retains interest as a collectors vehicle. It’s 2.2L inline-six produced a stout 99-hp. Only 55,279 220S sedans and 3.429 cabriolets and coupes were built.
Rarely seen on the streets of KC, this would surely be a head turner. Check out some restored versions to se the impressive interior and wood dash. Not clear if white was the original color. Some other color combinations, including two-tone, are impressive. This 1959 Mercedes Benz 220S is for sale in Overland Park, Kansas.
