Seller offering a 1986 Pontiac Fiero GT with 15,915 miles for $9,995. The Fiero has endured a complicated reputation but we think it has aged nicely – especially after 1987. This rear engine GT is equipped with a 2.8L V6, dual exhaust, alloy wheels, and 4-speed automatic transmission. From top to bottom, this looks like a well preserved example.
The Fiero was produced from 1984-1988 and from the beginning faced criticism from performance, safety, and reliability. The initial performance issues were probably well-founded. Originally equipped with a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine, GM is rumored to have passed on a higher performing V6 to avoid confronting the Corvette. Due to its sporty design the public expected an engine and handling to match.
The introduction of the GT included upgraded suspension tuning, wider tires, and a V6 with 140 hp (43 more hp than the 4-cylinder). In 1986 17,891 Fiero GT’s were produced.
