10/19/18: Seller offering a restored and modified 1962 Austin Mini with undisclosed miles for $11,250. If you don’t have much room in your garage, this may be the next car for you. Seller replaced the original 850cc inline-4 engine with the 998cc inline-4, rebuilt the transmission, front and rear sub-frame, carburetor, brakes, and redid the interior. Seller says the body is rust free and includes real Minilight brand wheels. Overall restoration looks great – probably a blast to drive.
Initially launched in 1959 as an inexpensive and fuel efficient vehicle that could seat four full-sized adults, the Mini was both practical and fun. In 1961 Mini introduced a larger 997cc engine with twin carburetors and front disc brakes. The upgraded Mini had upgraded trim which included bumpers with corner bars and overriders, and full wheel covers. The Mini went from practical and fun to a lightweight racer.
The larger Mini engine reportedly produced significantly more power and a better driving experience. It’s not clear whether this Mini started out as a left had drive. This 1962 Austin Mini MKI is for sale in Overland Park, Kansas. Check out seller’s listing on Craigslist for full details and seller’s contact information.
