UPDATE: Classic 1972 Volkswagen Westfalia – Grandview, MO

** UPDATE 8/7/18: Seller has lowered the asking price to $20,000 in their listing on Craigslist.  Great example – should find a new home at this price.  Check out comments on our initial post for some comments by the buyer **

7/2/18: Seller offering a 1972 Volkswagen Westfalia with undisclosed miles for $22,500. Overall, pictures show this is a great Westfalia example.  Seller discloses that a wreck resulted in work to the front nose and passenger door, new inner and outer rocker panels, new battery tray and dog legs.  Seller says may not qualify as “rust free” but a great example. Original 1700 4-cylinder engine, manual transmission, upper and lower ball joints have been replaced, brand new canvas tent, all new windows and top seals, new tires with less than 100 miles.  new Canvas for adult cot is being shipped and child cot has original canvas with no tears.   May not get there quickly, but will get there in style.

The Westfalia Camper was produced from the early 1950’s through 2003.   Volkswagen subcontracted with the Westfalia company to customize the stock bus. Standard equipment included various foldouts, birch plywood interior panels, ice box or cold box, sink, water storage and pump, electrical hookups, and curtains.  The pop-up was optional equipment along with child sleeping cot in the driver cab. Check out the seller’s listing on Craigslist for more details and contact information.

Went camping in one of these with some family friends when I was a kid. Not sure what year it was but they had more people stopping by the camp ground commenting about how cool it was. I thought it was just an old slow van at the time but now I appreciate them. Why do the “car camping” when you can have something like this?
