**UPDATE 8/20/18: Seller’s listing on Craigslist has reduced the asking price to $8,500.
6/24/18: Seller offering a 1997 Mercedes S500 Coupe with 130,000 miles for $10,500. Seller says the oil has been changed every 5,000 miles and the 130,000 mile service was just completed. Current owner did not use it as a daily driver – never driven in the rain or snow and the leather was treated with Lexol after every time it’s driven. Seller says that the previous owner was a Mercedes Mechanic. Tasteful Lorenzo wheels and great looking interior and exterior condition.
The 1997 S500 was a part of the W140 series of flagship Mercedes produced from 1991-1998. Initial development of the W140 series began in 1981 with an estimated production start of 1989. A number of issues led to the vehicle being introduced several years late. The W140 introduced innovations like double-pane window glazing, power assisted closing for doors and trunk lid, and electric windows that lowered back down if they encountered an obstruction. These options and a number of production cost overruns led to the W140 having an asking price 25% more than its predecessor.
A total of 14,953 S500 were produced between 1993-1999 and the initial MSRP was $92,495. The S500 was equipped with a 5L V8 which produced 322 hp, 420 lb/ft torque and a 0-60 time of up to 6.3 seconds. Probably one of the most striking features is the pillarless windows between the front and rear windows. Check out the seller’s listing on Craigslist for full details and contact information.
